Roller Jam at Hyde Park
A trip down nostalgia lane for some, the Sydney Festival presents Roller Jam: an all-wheel derby style playground in Hyde Park.
By Benjamen Judd
Taking place around the iconic Archibald Fountain in the heart of Hyde Park, Roller Jam is a weekly roller derby disco happening every Saturday throughout the Festival of Sydney.
Kicking off on Saturday January 7 and running until January 28, Roller Jam is a chance for you to kick off your grown up shoes in favour for some old school roller skates.

Each night there will be a new DJ to set the groove, including the spinning talents of Nick Toth, veteran funk and house DJ Simon Caldwell, warehouse maestro Steven Allkins and Paris Groovescooter.
If you’re not feeling the jam on the night, there is still space to kick back and take in the music while you snack on some delicious street food or even sip a cold one.
Because not all fun things are based on eating or knocking back a niche cocktail or two, this year the organisers at the Sydney Festival have given adults the chance to let their inner child loose. With the addition of some very sweet tunes.
Roller jam rollerskating disco will take place at Hyde Park, starting January 7 and wrapping up January 28.
Entry is free.
