Opera In the Domain

Feel like expressing your inner tenor? Sydney’s annual Opera in the Domain is back on January 21.

By Benjamen Judd

One of the city’s most loved free events, Opera in the Domain, is returning on January 21st to tantalise your ears with another collection of moving vocal performances.

This year, the program includes songs from some of the most beloved operas: The Toreador Song ('Votre Toast') from Carmen; 'Largo al factotum' from The Barber of Seville; Seguidilla from Carmen; and 'Sempre libera' from La Traviata

While food and drinks will be readily available from stores onsite, guests are more than welcome to bring their own picnic treats. So if you’ve been saving that bottle of vintage shiraz for special occasion, now’s probably the time to crack it open.

The whole shebang kicks off at 8pm, so we recommend getting there at least 30 minutes beforehand to nab a good seat.

Rain, hail, or shine – the event will go ahead regardless of weather. So check the forecast and pack a poncho if it does look like a shower or two in the evening. What could be better than sitting under a summer storm listening to spine-tingling arias? Amazing!

Opera in the Domain will take place in The Domain on January 21. Official start time is 8pm.
