Faster by The Australian Ballet

An intense performance driven by force, muscle, energy that crosses the line between dance and athleticism.

From April 7 until 26 the Australian Ballet will be performing their latest creation, Faster, at the Sydney Opera House.

For anyone new to the ballet, the realisation of just how physical – the thuds, creaking boards, the sound of bodies landing and even the rivers of sweat that run down the performers’ bodies – can be quite a shock.

But with Faster it becomes an essential feature of the dance. Exploring the visceral nature of movement, Faster was inspired by the Olympic motto of “Faster, Higher, Stronger”, and explores the super-charged world of elite sports.

Dancers show off their extraordinary athleticism against a driving score by Matthew Hindson that propels the choreography of David Bintley.

The program also features a world premiere from Tim Harbour, Squander and Glory, a dynamic work about the human energy system, with set design by acclaimed architect Kelvin Ho.

This is an astounding production and one that will take your breath away – whether you be an aficionado or green first timer.

For ticketing, head to the Sydney Opera House website.
