Art After Hours at the Art Gallery of New South Wales
The Art Gallery of New South Wales has opened their doors at night to let you see what happens to the art after dark.
One of the most wonderful experiences of coming to Sydney is spending time in the iconic Art Gallery of New South Wales.
But rather than wandering the rooms during the day with everyone else, the weekly After Hours tours hosted on Wednesday nights give you a chance to see the work up close and intimate.
Throughout the summer, every Wednesday night, you can take a guided tour of a various wings of the art gallery and learn about a new era, genre or specific artist; experience live music; watch a film; or attend one of the many enlightening talks and discussions hosted by some of Sydney’s most engaging speakers and experts.
This season, you can experience an insight into the brilliant work of the Dutch Masters with a guided tour of Rembrandt and The Dutch Golden Age. Or discuss the intersection of punk and art while looking at the work of Robert Mapplethorpe.
Musically, the talents of Microwave Jenny; the electrically exciting CODA; or the raw sounds of bluegrass and country group The Morrisons.
For a full rundown of what goes on when the lights go out, head over to the official Art Gallery of New South Wales website.
Art After Hours take place every Wednesday from 6pm.
